The Sweet Auburn Family Photo Album is a public art project by Mark Anthony Brown Jr., who is a Sweet Auburn Artist-in-Residence at REMERGE. Photographing community members at sites within the historic Sweet Auburn neighborhood like the Municipal Market, Brown aimed to inspire families to engage with their lineage while highlighting the importance of documenting, archiving and preserving their familial histories. Brown selected images taken during this project and installed them on the walls of buildings within the neighborhood. In doing so he turned them into murals and provided the Sweet Auburn community with a public photo album of their own to look at on a day-to-day basis.
